NYFIC Community Call Recap

Regenerative Fibers in Practice: From Farm to Finished Product

NYFIC grant awardee Laura Sansone of New York Textile Lab joined Ben Wood, a farmer implementing Climate Beneficial™ land management practices, and fellow NYFIC grant awardee Dan Kelleher of Adirondack Field to discuss how New York-grown fiber becomes Climate Beneficial™ yarns, textiles, and finished products.

Laura shared how New York Textile Lab works with farmers, mills, and manufacturers to develop yarns using local fiber. Ben discussed the Climate Beneficial™ land management practices he uses on his farm and how the fiber he supplies contributes to yarn development. Dan explained how Adirondack Field turns these materials into products for its collections through the New York Carbon Farm Network’s cooperative model.

The conversation also covered how Climate Beneficial™ practices are verified and what it takes to scale regional textile production while supporting environmental stewardship and mid-scale manufacturing in New York.
